Fraunhofer IGD is the world's leading institute for applied research in Visual Computing. Visual Computing is image- and model-based information technology. It includes Computer Graphics, Computer Vision, as well as Virtual and Augmented Reality. The range of applications of our concepts, models and practical solutions spans from virtual product development to medicine, commerce to multimedia learning and training.

Contributions

Fraunhofer IGD brings-in its understanding for virtual development processes and its expertise in data processing. Data processing here spans both, the geometric data plus the structural data describing product structure and assembly process information. The data must be processed and filtered in an intelligent form to create a (to be developed) knowledge platform in VISTRA - to our knowledge the first integrated knowledge based representation scheme for assembly processes and training. Thus, we further contribute with our knowledge modelling skills to a) create a meaningful knowledge representation and b) serve the interactive training simulation with the relevant information. We further collaborate with partners and training feedback aspects for the knowledge platform.
